Too early to say, but it's possible we may get something better than SGA and the last years of SG-1, so who knows?
The franchise seriously needs competent and integral people at its helm. If not, at least writers who take their job seriously enough.

Am I the only one getting Battlestar Galactica flashbacks? Eh. Could be good but it seems they appear to be going for a darker and edgier look which may not sit right. My opinion of course.

Lots of people get that vibe. SGA was hurt by BSG. Now both are gone, so SGU slides in and occupies the spot.
It also has the geek/teenage vibe.
I don't think it will be Seaquest DSV.

I notice in the trailer that even Carter's 304 is having a tough time with the present enemy forces, which at least included one Ha'tak.

It's nice to see the troop transport, although it seems very wide, compared to the models saw in SG-1.

Also, what a sensible piece of junk that core: a few shots from Death Gliders and that's it? The thing is damaged, overloads and tears the planet a new hole?

No your not but provided they avoid the religious BS and the magic ending of that series I don't see how it could possibly be any worse.

Looks good to me. The budget appears increased (or at least the sets and CGI are vastly superior then before) and some of the happy-go-lucky feel the previous shows have had also seems to be gone. And you can hardly say the actor roster is bad.
