SW/LOTR As A DnD Campaign

Post by The Corporal » Thu Feb 05, 2009 8:07 pm

Saw these on SDN last week. Imagine if you will a universe in which SW and LOTR did not exist except as an RPG campaign.

The SW on ie only up to the latter part of TPM but the LOTR one has the entire trilogy.

Been reading them for a time.

I have to say, I think the SW one is funnier, but they're both worth a good laugh...

It's been a long while since I read the LOTR one. The SW one is new to me, but it looks quite promising. Good find.

Ah, Darths & Droids... I've followed this webcomic off and on for a while now. Love it. The sad thing is that this intended parody is loads better than the movie it's spoofing.

Well in that case this site would debate the merits of Battle star Galactica (sp?) vs an obscure old tv show from the sixties called Star Trek :)

Anyway thanks for the link I needed a laugh and the Wars one gave me plenty.

That is not exactly a difficult task in my opinion, but then I always was more of a classic kind of guy.

Just out of curiosity who is your favorit character?( directed at anyone)
For me it has to be Qui-Gon and his kill everyone and steal thier blasters mentality. I can relate to that.

Everyone has at some point in their RPing experiance has been in a group with at least one Hack & Slash munchkin. Jim's dumbfounded reaction at the GM awarding XP for good RPing on Annie's part sums him up perfectly. As for a favorite character in D&D.... it's a toss up. Pete's kind of grown on me, his arrogant, sarcastic portrayal of Artoo is almost exactly what I could imagine the astromech really is saying. I'm hoping that D&D gets far enough to cover the OT as well as the PT.

Too true. I'm a firm believer that the game universe exists soley for me to kill people and break things and I don't like disapointing it. So my fluff, if you pardon the expression, is generaly light or not serious in the slightest. I tend to play as Brian the computer technician who moonlights as a barbarian to pay the bills, any interaction on my part besides killing is equally paradoxial.

Well just like the Hack & Slash munchkin you are bound to run into at least one person who believes he is the greatest gift to your team and that everyone should be listening to him. It's even more annoying when he is right and saves your butt.

Yes definatly, through I hope Jim get's control of Solo. The greedo shootout alone should be priceless.

It's a very variable spell that is great for attacking, defending, riding yourself of big fish and hostage situations....okay maybe not hostage situations. But it is still the greatest spell ever. Do you think Dooku could stop a giant fish landing on him? No! :)

The best part of the whole strip. I've been using it in a variety of situations in RL.

Greatest line for it's supreme irony: "Jar Jar, you're a genius!"

Are you sure it didn't say, "Jar-Jar, you are a completely worthless waste of space and I wish that you would die a horribly painful death,"?

In the actual movie, yes, Jar-Jar is a moronic, useless piece of shit, and a pathetic excuse for comedy relief. However in the alternate reality of Darths & Droids, Jar-Jar/Sally is not only useful, but a pivotal and creative member of the party.

I would even say that, in the webcomic, he/she's the most important character in terms of contribution to the campaign...
Ironic, isn't it?

:)
