Let me spell it out for you:

Ghosts mess with pipes, banging them and whatnot. Replacing pipes costs money. Leaked water costs money. Fires because of wet electrical lines costs money.

but how would a fire start from wet electrical wires if the leak occurred at the other end of the house? is the water causing the electrical wires to start the fire some other, non-ghost related accidental spillage?

Ghosts do crazy stuff. Why are you arguing about it? Ghosts kill people and break mirrors. They do stuff that does damage and damage costs money!
