Some of these are rather funny like the seemingly ever changing number of decks. You'd think that Federation ships were TARDIS. It might explain how holodecks can be so large.

The things concerning Data strike me as Data just upgrading or redesigning his body off screen.

The one thing I did not like was that ST: Insurrection and Nemesis forgetting that Data acquisition of the emotion chip. At the very least they should have mentioned it in passing with something like "Hey Data, how've you been getting along since your emotion chip was removed last month?".

Well, in Insurrection, one character (I think Riker) asked if Data brought his emotion chip with him to Ba'ku, implying that they were able to remove it.

The novelization of Nemesis states that Data's emotion chip was overloaded and destroyed by the Borg Queen. Maybe we can work some theory explaining this, even though novels aren't canon.

You might be right, if this is not cut from the theatrical version:

DOUGHERTY (on viewscreen): We haven't fully identified the anomalies yet. They're calling this whole area the Briar Patch. It took us a day to reach a location where we could even get a signal to you. Just get me Data's schematics. I'll keep you informed. Dougherty out.

PICARD: His emotion chip?

GEORDI: He didn't take it with him. Send the Admiral Data's schematics.

So if it's not non-functional, why doesn't he have it in Nemesis? The Nemesis novelization provides no real explanation since it is not in-line with the implied functionality in ST:INS.

I have had that movie, don't know which version (but wasn't extended edition), and scene was included.
