Just a heads-up warning: I'm experimenting with some phpBB mods to make navigation, linking, and crawling work better on the forums. I'm going to test all the changes first in a backup copy of the forum, but if you find you can't get into the forums or they display in a wonky fashion, e-mail me promptly. Include the time you couldn't get in and your browser/OS and then check back later.

It's not "crawling work", what he was saying was making "crawling" work better. Crawling itself is when you visit a large number of webpages, following hyperlinks along the way. It's commonly used to describe how search engines gather their data.
