Nemesis' spacebattle; spitting range

Post by Mr. Oragahn » Fri Aug 20, 2010 5:31 pm

The E-D and the Scimitar, along those other two Romulan warbirds, fought in the middle of the Bassen Rift.
MA says:

"A dense nebula field with many greenish-hued cloud formations, passage through the Rift disrupts subspace communications."

Is it related to the mediocre range?

Possibly. The whole Bassen Rift thing is a knock off of ST:TWoK's Mutara Nebula battle anyway, so why not?

It could have been the nebulae, but there are a few other theories I conjured up.

1. The Scimitar's disruptors weren't exactly fast, so perhaps that, unlike phasers and other beam weapons, disruptor cannons have a very short range.
2. Since the Scimitar was shooting to disable, perhaps they had to remain close to achieve the precision necessary to only disable the Enterprise.
3. Perhaps Shinzon is just extremely stupid/cocky.
4. Perhaps the use of the cloak shortened the weapon's range, either by limiting available power to the weapon systems or by hindering the targeting sensors.

Also, I believe it was the E-E, not the E-D. :)

1. Maybe but they did have lots of them.

2. Yea, given the speed of the bolts fired relative to the E-E at combat speed long range would never allow for precision shots.

3. Well he was, he wanted to show picard he was the better man not just by beating him but by beating him easily and arrogantly.

4. Maybe but the script ect supports 2 & 3 very strongly.

Okay. The E-D is gay. It's too dark, it's too fucking gray, and its silhouette is as stretched as the face of a Son'a.
There.
