I don't think calling his opinion gibberish just because you disagree you know. At least he doesn't suggest gigaton level phasers as the average.
No, I remember him suggesting that E-D can literally melt/"vaporize" entire Death Star with phasers. High megaton / low gigaton phasers are not exactly a stretch, compared with that.

Well, whether or not you believe phasers use that much energy as a DET component, we do have evidence in several TOS, TNG, and DS9 episodes of effects on the gigaton scale.

Yes I know. Although firepower does tend to dance around in DS9 and Voyager all way down to sub-kiloton (Voyager had firefight in the atmosphere once).
