TCW Signs Off Early

Disney is terminating the last Lucas-helmed Star Wars. I personally view this as a grave error . . . quite frankly, it is the best Star Wars, in my opinion.

I think they just didn't know what to do with it . . . it aired on their rival and wasn't a fit for a Disney channel, so instead of doing something awesome they're just scrapping it.

Four and a half years isn't too bad for an animated TV show. But there's probably a number of Warsies celebrating it's demise considering how TCW trashed their belief in uber powerful SW tech.

Did they ever care?
A mere glance at SDN in 2012 would show you that they just lived their isolated life and at times their views would leak out to SBC, but since the ICS was properly put to rest over there, their attempts didn't really stick as much as they did during the five or so years after the AOTC:ICS.

Aside from this debate, there is just the fact that some people didn't really dig the show that much. Suspension of disbelief was broken so many times, mostly because of stupid plots or tepid to ludicrous skirmishes, plus the all new Ass'okay who pop'd out of nowhere.

I liked TCW, as the characters were as believable as in the movies, and Anakin wasn't a whiny Emo Bitch contrary to the movies...
I actually liked Anakin in TCW, when I despised him in the prequels...
Asoka grew on me over time, as the character matured...
We saw Firepower comparable to RotS and AotC, Jedi that weren't gods, but simply creatures with supernatural powers, but still mortal...
We saw Ventress's character develop, and the more recent seasons, just like in Enterprise, were actually nice with nice stories...

So while I won't cry at the loss of TCW, I am not happy it leaves, and I know my GF's kid will miss it too...

Oh, I think "they" cared. There are enough TCW threads over there, and it's more by what they did not say there and on SBC that tells what an impact it had on the debate as as anything else. It certainly did not help anything when their leader Wong suddenly disappeared in 2010. But SDN's specific reaction to TCW is a subject for a separate thread in the Other Website forum.

For a more SFJN-oriented view, look at Kane Starkiller and Corporal Kendall's absence these past few years since then and following 2046's (aka Robert Scott Anderson) assessment of TCW's first season and it's implications in which it became blatantly clear that SW tech was not the unstoppable juggernaut of Saxtonian/Wongian proportions due to it's less than awesome portrayal in TCW, which was a higher canon than the ICS books. It also did not help that we got confirmation that there are only millions of Clone troopers, not billions, and the addition of just 5 million more troops was enough to bankrupt the Galactic Republic, which was a serious blow to the idea that the Galactic Empire could effortlessly build ships and Death Stars.

No, it wasn't the greatest writing or anything else, but at least Anakin isn't a whiny brat and we got to see some decent portrayals of the Clone troopers and their interactions with the Jedi.

From the way these guys interacted here, I'm pretty certain both left only because they lost interest in the debate...
Kendall, in fact, had been much less involved in the VS debates way before, and posted here mainly in other threads not related to ST vs SW...

Possibly, but I don't think it's entirely a coincidence that Kane began to lose interest in the ST-vs-SW debates almost immediately after TCW's first season. He did try his hand in the other Versus debates for a while and then dropped out completely after that. Kendall I'll give you that one as his health and other issues seem to have made him lose interest more than anything else.

But if Kane disagrees with me, he's always welcome to drop in and say otherwise.
