Oh I didn't say they were tougher, just better, since a cable wouldn't take one down and it has starship grade weapons.
Plus the cool factor is through the roof, even their explosions are more awesome ^_^

I'm sorry if this bothers you, but what the fuck are you smoking? AT-ATs were seen falling to the ground without suffering any structural failure. Just to make a walker that size move with those limbs would take structural steel far stronger than any we have today. It is said to be immune to "all but the heaviest artillery", such as SPHATs that sheared a capital ship in half in the RotS space battle.Khas wrote:Well, considering that the A-10's primary weapon is a Gatling gun that fires depleted uranium shells, I don't think it'll have too much of a problem getting through the AT-ATs' armor.
Feel free to provide evidence, anyone, that A10s can do as much as scratch or even impede the AT-ATs. Otherwise, they decimate AT-STs and ground troops, but it hardly matters, as the AT-ATs still blow up the base.

Nope, I was right, THERE ARE FIVE AT-AT... :)Picard wrote:I remember seeing only three or four.
True, but then their "Blaster Impervious" armor was penetrated after the fall by... Blasters... O_OSWST wrote:AT-ATs were seen falling to the ground without suffering any structural failure.

Don't you read other people's posts (you know, what you accuse me of not doing)...
Just blast a hole in front of its leg, and it falls down...

Well I've always assumed AT-AT's merely had weaker armor "on top", IIRC it took the blast in the back of its "neck" through I admit my memory could be faltering once again, and that is what the blasters exploited. Or Lucas thought it looked cool.Praeothmin wrote:True, but then their "Blaster Impervious" armor was penetrated after the fall by... Blasters... O_O
Is it the novelization of TESB? What page number? As well there are these things refered to in the pilot Clone wars movie as Heavy Cannons fitting the concept of artillery better than a dedicated anti-starship weapon. I see no reason to walk into the insanity of an AT-AT being more heavily armored than a Star Destroyer.StarWarsStarTrek wrote:is said to be immune to "all but the heaviest artillery",

I think that you, swst, are highly underestimating the kinetic force an A10 can bring to bear on any target. Even if they couldn't damage the thing (which I highly HIGHLY doubt since a low impact collision with a snow speeder destroyed one) they could simply knock them over with any of their armaments.
I mean hell, the thing fires 3900 rounds in a minute, rounds that are the size of your ARM... and that's not counting any of the missiles/bombs the thing carries.

Inless SWST has teeny tiny arms, I don't think the A-10's bullets are quite that big... ;)

I'll admit, the arm comment is an exaggeration, still those rounds are bloody huge.

Definitely, and they'd go through the AT-STs like a hot knife through butter... :)Trinoya wrote:I'll admit, the arm comment is an exaggeration, still those rounds are bloody huge.
