Star wars and star trek tech combined?

Post by User1442 » Thu Jan 06, 2011 8:15 am

Since my last post was a rather large (or small since it has barely gotten any posts) of fail, i'll try this one. The empire and the federation have contact. However diplomacy moves past war and they remain at peace. Through various trading of technology (lets assume their at peace for a hundred years), the imperial fleet now has all star trek's tech, and starfleet has all of star wars tech. However, after the few hundred years and trading of tech, they end up getting into a conflict. How would it pan out?

Depends on how the Federation has developed in these few hundred years.

It could have increased in size. Depending on how big you assume the modest-sized Star Wars Galaxy is, the Federation in the Milky Way could be even bigger than the Empire that can't expand over the size of its own galaxy.

And we had already glimpses of the technology of the Federation a few hundred years after the 24th century.

Does the Empire has this technology too or only the technology from the 24th century?

Because if both sides can travel through time without any problems, it could get messy.

Well, both sides having the other's technology means the Federation now has Hyperdrive, so faster expansion capabilities, and since the ST Galaxy is bigger, then more raw material... :)

With the technology of the 29th century, hyper-drive would be obsolete.
Transwarp ... Quantum Slipstream ... The timeship Aeon was capable of to open a rift that allowed the ship not only to travel through time but through space too. With that technology it could send Voyager back into the DQ from Earth in a few moments. The timeship USS Relativity was able to beam 7 of 9 from the Voyager in the DQ through the time to the Voyager when she was still at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards. Who needs hyper-drive with that?

Time travel has been a major part of Star Trek since TOS.

i have never seen a dairy queen large enough to hold a starship, regardless of the power of the warp opened to send it there. you would only succeed in destroying the building, wilga! and all the tasty treats within!

Yes, but it's been used in wars by the Federation when?
Only in the 29th century, when fighting other time-travellers, and Janeway to get Voyager home faster...
The Borg, otoh, tried to in FC, but failed.
Why they never tried earlier is a mystery...
While it was known even in Kirk's time, it wasn't used to undo things, or to give the Federation instant "I've erased you from reality" wins...
This is not a 23rd century Trek ability with any use in a war...

I know you can't prove the UFP does not use time travel the way you suggest, or in a more subtle way since the series only focus on a very small number of people.

The Borg does not care about assimilating the UFP, and going back in time to assimilate a group makes that group less valuable to the Borg.

To be honest, the Federation would be more likely to exist after 3 centuries than the Empire would, due to the latter being unstable and the high possibility that the Rebellion still wins.

Riiight, like in DS9 when THE ENTIRE FEDERATION WAS AT WAR AND WE NEVER HEARD THEM MENTION TIME-TRAVEL AS A SOLUTION?
Since I know YOU can't prove this ability is theirs and that they have used it in a war to increase their chances of winning, then this ability cannot be considered as a ST ability in a war against the Empire...

Really?
Care to explain why?

We hardly hear about a lot of stuff, that doesn't mean it isn't there. We never see money/credits/curency used, but we know it's there.

We know for a fact they do use time travel from time to time.

The UFP has won every time against seemingly impossible odds. I prefer someone made sure the UFP won every time as apposed to to dumb luck.

If the Borg wants to assimilate something it will just sends as many ships as needs to. The Borg has only sent one ship knowing that that might not be enough.

I would guess that the Borg is either just testing new ways of assimilation, or trying to scare the UFP into improving it's tech to be worth it's time. It at the time of the series the Borg is not really trying.

That's a ridiculous argument and you should be ashamed for making it.

When do we see the Federation using Time travel to.. well. Avoid Wolf 359?
Or the deaths of the Dominion war. Or.. well you get the picture. They don't.

Wrong, we do hear about credits, even gold-pressed Latinum bars, in DS9 when Harry is looking to pruchase rocks for his mother, or even in TNG's first show where Beverly wishes to purchase, not trade for, fabric...
Scotty even "bought a boat"...
We know for a fact they do use time travel from time to time.
Most of the time accidentally, and never to change the outcome of a War...
Unless you have some evidence to the contrary...
The UFP has won every time against seemingly impossible odds
And they always used available tech?
They never, oh I don't know, requested that the Prophets close the Wormhole to cut of Dominion re-enforcements from getting to the AQ?
Facts are, they could have used time-travel to make sure Betazed was preprared for an attack with newer defenses, they could have sent information about the Dominion weapon back in time to make sure Fed shields would be resistant to Dominion weapons and Breen weapons right at the beginning of the war and thus save MILLIONS OF LIVES...
They could have done the same with the Borg at Wolf 359, BUT THEY NEVER DID, and if they did have time travel as a tool, they have to be the biggest idiots in the universe not to use it to save lives...
This is not a valid reason...
I would guess that the Borg is either just testing new ways of assimilation, or trying to scare the UFP into improving it's tech to be worth it's time. It at the time of the series the Borg is not really trying.
I don't believe that at all.
Care to back that up with some evidence?
