What do you compare Blaster effects to?
What modern real world weapons do you feel Star Wars blaster type weapons behave the most like?

I was starting to lose hope that someone would respond before I did.

_____
To me it seems like an explosive shell is more similar to a blaster/laser/turbolaser bolt

It seems to me that a Star Wars blaster/laser/turbolaser bolt either penetrates and then explodes, or explodes on contact normally.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean? Could you explain what you mean in more detail please?Jedi Master Spock wrote:About a fifty cal rifle, more or less.

It's hard to tell. When they leave burns, I'd be tempted to go for the usual low-blast thermal bolt.Lucky wrote:I was starting to lose hope that someone would respond before I did.I'm not sure I understand what you mean? But then there are those times when they act like if they were burrowed explosives (which they were in real life).
And then we have some severe cases of burrowing, sometimes even failing to detonate at all inside the target.
Then again, some craterings in walls could be explained by a behaviour similar to that of a heavy kinetic projectile with some blasting property, as you get with solid projectiles shaped in a way to produce shrapnel and expand in the target soon on penetration. Generally, in that case, I tend to favour an analogy with a .50 cal.
Worse, all of this can happen from the same kind of weapon, yet no further setting system is ever described beyond stun and kill.
However, the long burrowing shots (as seen in TCWS with Rex' twin handguns) seem to be quite a rare occurrence.

How do you explain things like this: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2 ... Shield.png in Episode One? There are fiery explosions in spite of only a shield being hit.Mr. Oragahn wrote: It's hard to tell. When they leave burns, I'd be tempted to go for the usual low-blast thermal bolt.

I think that everything can be explained by a shield bubble that deteriorates as it travels.
