DARTH MAUL cathces QUI-GON off guard. The SITH makes a quick move, bashes his lightsaber handle into QUI-GON's chin, and runs him through. QUI-GON slumps to the floor in a heap

According to this the main shields used in battle in star wars are electromagnetically based. That means that against Phasers, ray shields should be useless because phasers are made out of nadions which are neutral subatomic particles. So a phaser should pass straight through ray shields.

So, aside from the non-canon Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual (TNG TM), what source in the televised or filmed canon says that phasers are neutral subatomic particles?

I'd be hesitant to say that the electromagnetic shields of a Star Wars ship or installation is vulnerable to phasers. Furthermore, even if the phasers worked exactly that way, why would nadions go right through the shields?

I don't think it was directly stated that nadions are neutral but phase pistols in the 22nd century did use nadions and the first magnetic containmemt fields weren't sucessfully made until after phase pistols were invented. Since the beam doesn't spreadout due to electromagnetic repulsion and magnetic
containment fields hadn't been invented yet the nadions must have been neutral.

They would go straight through ray shields because ray shields are electromagnetic and wouldn't affect neutral particles.

As mentioned in TNG: "Best of both Worlds" phasers have an electromagnetic component and frequency as well as being composed of nadions. However, the Borg's magnetic shield was implied to only affect the transporter.
