Then the EVA-01 explodes as it crashes since Rand lives in a magical medieval setting and has no clue how to operate advanced armors... :)

But you forget, Shinji had no idea how to operate the EVA at first. Most of the action is controlled by thought. As Ritsuko said, "Just think about walking", when Shinji was trying to get Unit-01 to walk.

Well, I probably forgot because I never saw this anime before... :)

Perhaps they need to turn that primordial soup juice inside the pod into booze?

i've only read the manga (WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN FINISHED IN ENGLISH), but you know what bugs me about that? what the hell are all those controls in the cockpit for?

you ever see G Gundam? how the suit is sort of linked with you..so its an extension of your body? and you feel the "hits' as though they were to your flesh?

I'm fairly certain EVA 01 can't sync up and therefore it becomes useless.
