The GD was a failure and David knew it. Working with protomatter doesn't equal Genesis Device and you know it.
GD failed because the planet was made from a nebula rather than a dead rock of a planet, the cavern where they first tested it was fully stable and did not explode.

The federation and even a retard like neelix regularly use protomatter for a variety of reasons by the DS9 era shows that it is now understood and no longer considered unreliable like in kirks era.

The Changling tried to blow the the Bajoran sun with promatter and trillithium.
Didn't finish.

Voyager encounter promatter in the star, they were not creating GD's.
So?.

Both of these are examples are evidence that protomatter is now a regularly used material, even the marquis use it sometimes as a component for explosive devices.

And ? It was said that the Federation would use the Genesis Device to create life on planets for Galactus. They don't have the GD, protomatter while the key component to the GD does not equal the GD without the knowledge.
They haven't shown the ability to recreate what the Genesis Device could do.

The bit with the star is impressive but a red herring as that wasn't the GD.

We know what the GD is, and Neelix working with protomatter isn't the same.
The Changling trying to destroy the Bajoran Sun isn't a member of the Federation.
Dr. Gideon didn't use the GD.

So where is this GD that they can use on whim?

They got the specs for the GD when the Enterprise docked and they downloaded the logs and they have perfected the use of hypermatter by the DS9 era.
They haven't shown the ability to recreate what the Genesis Device could do.

Actually they have as they terraform dead planets regularly, in fact replicator tech is a distant cousin of GD style tech if you think about it as both involve matter energy conversion.

It shows they have perfected the use of protomatter so is relevant to the discussion and not a red herring.
We know what the GD is, and Neelix working with protomatter isn't the same.
As i said it does not need to be, neelix having storage for and voyager using protomatter supports the fact that it is a substance that is used regularly.
The Changling trying to destroy the Bajoran Sun isn't a member of the Federation.
The defiant sensors recognised the type of and ability of the bomb from a simple scan and the defiant is probably the least scientific ship in the fleet, as such it shows that the feds are more than familiar with protomatter bombs and their abilities.

Dr. Gideon didn't use the GD.
No he improved upon it and became famous throughout the federation for his creations in regards to terraforming worlds.
So where is this GD that they can use on whim?
Terraforming is mentioned and so is protomatter in regards to it being a component material involved during such, so that is where it is or at least the more upto date version that the federation now uses.

Gladiator stood up to Tyrant a being who he knew would kill him with no effort..and despite that put up a better fight then any one minus norrin-confidence weakening takes time...

the dude is also capable of producing shockwaves powerful enough to vaporize multiple planets...just by flexing his biceps..really hard in a grappling match..siddy choking him is highly unlikely

if Galactus is fully fed he should be able to wipe the Q out...he's had no problem overpowering and chowing down on beings who can rewrite multiverses at will when.. sufficiently enraged though he tends to avoid it if he can

but the Q would barely top out at Cosmic Cube tier..if that which is a notch or two below Big G

edit-as far as the GD being lost tech where do you get that Matt? Fed terraforming is so advanced they can revive dead stars these guys may no longer missile spam to make worlds but its pretty clear they can if they want too since they bring back suns the same war

And what proof do you have of that?
As Khas mentioned, their supernovaes were side effects from their war happening in a parallel dimension...
And they no problems putting things back to their normal state.
If they are close to anything at all in the Marvel Universe, it's to the Infinity Gauntlet because they can do what they want with a snap of their fingers, and as previously mentioned, there are more than 1 Q...

Odin a mere skyfather unleashing his battle aura causes the entire multiverse to begin to shake...entire time lines and other dimensions outside the main marvel universe get utterly annihilated...and mere palm lasers from the guy are powerful enough to cause many dimensions to shake..stars to ignite..and galaxies to implode

this isn't even full power..cosmic cubes make him look like a joke...Galactus in turn..makes them look like children playing in sand boxes

thats the power gap in Marvel their cosmics..are insanely broken

a single Celestials has rewritten reality across multiple universes Galactus ate the guy like a club sandwitch and it usually takes..two or three on one odds for them to eek out a win

Praeothmin wrote:As Khas mentioned, their supernovaes were side effects from their war happening in a parallel dimension...
which is not..over much impressive Galactus..completely outside reality has caused one of the multiverses in marvel to nearly collapse (and yes before you go there marvel has..like..a couple dozen multiverses..regardless of what those poorly written databooks say...this is backed up when Strange sees the LT and the guy holds megaverses in each of his hands)

and at one point nearly killed eternity..due to the sheer amount of power him and agomoto where out putting inside Agomoto's dimension which is entirely outside of the 616 universe it isn't like Galactus hasn't broken into dimensions..like Mephistos where he's essentially omnipotent..and outright overrode the guys power and started *eating" his friggen reality...before

Praeothmin wrote:]And they no problems putting things back to their normal state.
so does Odin or any skyfather after they fight and cause massive catastrophic damage....yet if they tried anything with Galactus they'd be looking like a seal vs an Orca

the infinity Gauntlet casually wipes the floor with beings able to affect entire multiverses at will...and can obliterate and create multiverses with casual..ease..the original being that was the IG...literally created the malibu comics multiverse..and it only got taken down by the friggen LT

the..sheer gap between what the Q have done...and what a being like an IG wielder can do is gargantuan...and it's a serious colossal overestimation of the highest levels imaginable to put those two..on the same tier

I guess you are right, I haven't read comics in a long time, and didn't really see all the wanked out multiverse affecting idiocies in the comics...

I used to read them 20 years or so ago, when Galactus was still threatened by Thor, or the FF, and needed time to assemble his machine, and things like Eternity and the LT were still just bad concepts in kids' minds... :)

they're actually weaker now...they made an effort to tone it down

the down side is they turned Reed and spiderman into wife beaters...and magneto into essentially..prequel Anakin skywalker..in all his cry baby glory..

so you where around for the Kirby era then? when it really started getting insane..(him and Starlin had admitted to doing acid while drawing up..cosmic comics) I mean it literally went down the crazy road...around the time you stopped

you probably stopped reading around the time Thanos..showed up..good you missed one of the biggest Stu characters ever

I actually stopped after the IG saga...
I had hoped it would calm down after that, but it didn't, and that did it for me...
That, and the Spider-man clone stories... :)

I think they pretend that never happened, regardless a Spiderman fanboy currently runs the company..and he torpedoed Mj and Petes love life..because he hated it as a kid..when the fans exploded on him his reply was "I thought the average comic reader..couldn't relate to an attractive socially normal..couple'' (you can see why Disney took over now yes?)

oh and they created a superman analog with blond hair..made him a goth and turned him into the old testament god ( this..isn't a joke sadly..Jedi Matt wishes it was..we all do)

on the plus side allot of their one shots and what ifs and mini series have been good
