Terminator vs. Predator

Post by l33telboi » Tue Jul 01, 2008 6:50 pm

Here's something that might be interesting. A T-850 (Arnie-bot from Terminator 2) versus the Predator from Predator 2.

The battlefield is a large modern city, just like in Terminator 2 and Predator 2.

Who wins?

I would give this fight to the Predator, due to the stealth mode and superior weapons.
the Plasma-Caster should be bale to heavily damage the T-850, and it is way better at stalking then Terminators.
Better agility, better mobility.

On the other hand, Arnie beat the Predator as an ordinary human. He'd beat the Predator as a futuristic high-tech cyborg bent purely towards killing things.

Well then, while we're oversimplifying things, Arnie as the Terminator was taken down by waitress with no military experience... :)

Seriously, in Predator, Arnie was thoroughly owned and was about to be turned into a stain on a tree when he finally was able to catch the Pred in one of his traps.

It took deviousness (and a lot of booby traps), Arnie's own skills as hunter/professional soldier, the arrogance of the Pred that didn't feel threatened by Arnie at all and was arrogantly taking his time stalking him, and some luck for him to pull it off.

When faced by superior enemies, such as seen in AvP, Preds are a lot more pro-active and do not play with their prey.

The Pred takes this one.

I'll be honest, I'm a bit torn on this one. I'll give the pred an easy speed and agility advantage, but frankly, they are full of themselves. They are over confident, even in AvP. This overconfidence seems to constantly lead to their downfall.

Terminators are not so hindered but they lack the sheer firepower of a pred. While they have demonstrated just as much maneuverability as a human (if not more in some cases) they clearly are fragile enough that those plasma weapons will melt right on through them.

Now, if we take the setting into effect, a modern day city we have two additional factors to include. The predators are able to nimbly traverse the city, while a terminator would not cause alarm, and may even be able to use its knowledge on humans to enlist their assistance in the battle... I don't give stealth advantage to either as predators create the ever present wispy 'I'm cloaked ha ha" effect and a terminator who survives the initial encounter (which I'm assuming we would have since the two have to 'battle' each other and not 'assassinate' each other) would be keenly aware of this.

Short version: If this city is abandoned, the predator will win ultimately after a (very) short battle. If it is not abandoned, the terminator will enlist assistance to defeat the predator and will have a significantly improved arsenal of weapons.

As this is a city 'just like' in the movies... It's safe to assume there are people in it.

Win: Terminator.

For the record: In any arena that the terminator (for whatever reason) can not obtain assistance and additional firepower, the predator blasts him into molten slag.... twice.

In AvP, they were full of themselves vs humans, but they seemed pretty much on their toes vs the Aliens.

It is true that in a city, they might have help from civilians, but look at how much good it did in Predator 2.
It took the army using weapons specifically designed to counter the Pred to take it down a notch, and allow the hard-headed cop a shot at it.

And were it not for the cop having a Pred disk, and fignting a very injured Pred, the cop would have been dead.

Preds go through brick walls just as easily as Terminators (although Termies are probably slightly stronger), and their camouflage was better in AvP then in the original Pred movies, so they may not be so easy to spot.

Dont forget, the Termitators see in IR as well. The Predators cloaking field may not be as effective against Terminators. The Terminator in T3 also took a plasma blast to the chest and was still pretty effective. The Terminator also has access to a wide variety of information on vehicles and weapons. I would give it to the Terminator.

The Terminator in T3 took a plasma hit to the chest and was knocked on its a** and incapable of movement for many minutes.

If the She-Termie had wanted it destroyed, and had not been bent on getting Connor, then she would've been able to finish it off easily...
