Well whether a Nod/Tribute or Ripoff Stargate seems to excall at it whatever you want to call it. It does not stop with the probes latter on we were greeted with Priors and Pre-Ascended beings wielding Force like powers and then in the 200th episode they make the furlings look like sort of Ewoks. Even if it was a jest is undeniably part of their pattern. I wonder if in the next upcoming show we will be greeted by Lightsaber like weapons and what will they call them!

Who is like God arbour wrote:You have to differentiate between an analogue and homologue development.

Sometimes, different people are having mutually independently the same thought simply because it's right.

That applies also to the design of commodities. The design usually develops for an easy and comfortable handling as far as efficiency allows it. That can lead to mutually independently developed commodities, who are looking and working the same way.
Of course, the obvious and "backstage" (i.e., real) answer is that the design of the Goa'uld probe is meant to be an obvious homage to the Star Wars Imperial Probe :)

Off course! As Mr Oragahn pointed out some would call it a rip off but whatever you want to call it it is obvious that the producers of Stargate have been ripping off/Nodding Star Wars stuff from the get-go!

Except for the stories, as they are less "kiddie-oriented" and more "mature-oriented".

The storylines are dealing with more mature subjects, and are often a reflection of actual dilemas, whereas SW mostly deals with whiny would-be gods... :)

Me too but honestly they should just marry the 2 franchises and get it over at this point...
