Why does the UFP us such reckless tactic fighting the Borg.
In Star Terk first contact the Crew USS Enterprise E would have been better using fire in rows. First row fires after Borg adapt the second row fires with another frequency while first row chances to another frequency. Before run out frequency the Borg most like whip out to say the least. Why does the UFP us such reckless tactic fighting the Borg. For that matter why did the Federation not even try over run borg cube with over Federation foot soldiers.

Their combat boots couldn't get traction in space. Damn shame, too.Jasonb wrote: For that matter why did the Federation not even try over run borg cube with over Federation foot soldiers.

I can barely understand what you're saying here, Jason. Could you please restate your question/thesis.

why caption Jean Luc Pircad had all his security offices armed with phaser rife on same frequency during Star Terk first contact. He could divide them into two teams. Each team would been have their phaser rifles set to different frequency. Team one fire and try to knock out as many Borg as possible before they adapted. Then team two fire while team one chance their phaser frequency to another phaser frequency.

That's....kind of what they did.
They approached Main Engineering as two teams, each from different sides, one led by Worf, the other by Picard and Data. They met in the middle at Main Engineering, where Picard proposes they try the manual release.
And this:
Worf: I have ordered all weapons be set on a rotating modulation. The Borg will adapt quickly. We will be able to fire twelve shots at most.
The phaser rifle constantly rotates to a new modulation each time it fires. The Borg adapting therefore entails that they not only defend against the current modulation, but predict subsequent modulations using the data they accumulated from the first few shots. This raises several questions: Since phaser rifles are mass-produced, does each weapon have the same preset program of modulations as every other, or are they different. They could arrive from the factory preprogrammed with a few basic modulations in their memory, then each starship tailors them to the precise situation they expect to face. Realistically, since they've encountered the Borg before, there's probably a "we're fighing the Borg" modulation program in each rifle's memory. Since the rifles would be cycling through their modulation program independently of one another, the Borg would have to adapt to each individual weapon, which is why we see several phaser shots later on get through, and why, once a weapon has been adapted to, it tends to be discarded or used as a club. Realistically, there's only so many crewmembers firing only so many weapons, so adapting to each one isn't an impossible feat given the Borg's computing power.

So your proposing using the Peninsula War era "thin red line?" Would be a decent idea as any, if they had a bayonet on the rifle for when they ran out of freqs.

At least until clubs and bayonets gets your troops turned into Borg drones themselves because now they're in easy reach of the nanoprobe tubules.

Well once you've run out of freqs you don't have much other choice then melee until you can get away.

The best thing to do is just to get away from the drones, and not let them get near you at all. Using a club or blade to block attempts by a drone to inject the tubules into you is the last resort of last resorts.

Just send this guy into engineering and be done with it.

To do what? Get assimilated when dozens of Borg drones swarm and inject nanoprobes into him? ;-)

He's probably going to whack a couple of them with his short sword before getting pwned hard.

Well that goes without saying. Even if he gets swarmed by dozens of unarmed ordinary humans there isn't much he can do. However I don't remember there being dozens of drones in Enterprises engineering let alone them being able to simultaneously swarm him given their speed.Mike DiCenso wrote:To do what?
