Re: Do Stormtroopers Really Have Such Bad Aim?
Sorry about the delay in getting around to this, but I've been fairly busy IRL, and what little time I've had to spend here has largely gone towards dealing with the hoards of spambots.

Problem in Endor I expect better aim Ewaks. They no interest order take them back alive. Ewak bow arrows slaughter them.

lol 'storm trooper aiming' when they were protagonists they pwned, as antagonists they 'couldnt hit the side of a barn'...seems they were nerfed by plot if anything, but nonetheless much disagreement/cherry picking be brought to vs threads via lulzy stormtroopers inconsistency

mejia, Stormtroopers, even when the protagonists, couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, as demonstrated vs the Rebels on the Tantive IV in ANH, the Rebels on Hoth, and the Ewoks on Endor in RotJ...
To say they could aim requires ignoring all onscreen examples of them shooting at anything... :)

Re: Do Stormtroopers Really Have Such Bad Aim?
In the novels, mojo, they aim well, and are truly fearful, wearing good armor that actually protects them...
In other words, it's like they're a completely different force, with no relation to the movie versions... :)

Was that the one with the space zombies in it? Zombies would have better aim than most movie stormtroopers.mojo wrote:anybody read the zahn novel about the stormtroopers that go awol and just kind of fly around helping people? that was a good one. and they aimed good.

We've seen this before, it's a nice EU explanation for some examples of shitty accuracy ("A whole run of them" does not make "All of them"), but not all examples, and not all the movies...

Re: Do Stormtroopers Really Have Such Bad Aim?
I just take it as artistic licensing for the most part. The B1s I take has having bad aim, because they themselves are said to have bad aim and are generally presumed to be really stupid. In the case of Storm Troopers, they're supposed to be threatening, elite troops that the main characters just happen to thwart.Mr. Oragahn wrote:Easier to think that it's the crystal manufacturer who fucked up. They probably had a whole stock of crap crystals that they couldn't make pure or clear enough without polishing them down to such a size that they wouldn't be fit for the weapons' needs, so they were sold at the proper caliber, but had all sorts of crap on their surface.
Tell me that kind of shit doesn't happen on Earth.
Contrary to what is thought by some, the "rebels" using those imperial blasters in ANH didn't have such greater hit/miss ratios than the stormtroopers themselves. Plus the Rebels were meant to be taken alive, or let flee for the beacon on the Millennium Falcon to lead the Empire to the rebel base.

Re: Do Stormtroopers Really Have Such Bad Aim?
Mith, I have no problem with this, except when some hypocrite brings out this argument to defend SW, but then turns around and says ST security/Redshirts/Goldshirts suck at their job, and have bad aim...
Either you give the same excuse to both, or use no excuse at all and take seen events at face value...
