Blasters underrated?

I've been watching the six live action Star Wars movies(1997 versions of the OT) on Spike, and I have come to the conclusion that aside from seemingly having accuracy problems blasters are really underrated as weapons. It's a shame I can't get screen caps.

The Nabbo Secerity force speeder has a large blaster on the back of it. This blaster while large seems small enough for a human to carry on his own unlike the E-WEB seen in Ep.5.

This blaster is easily able to destroy an AAT through its frontal armor.

Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope

In the cantina Greedo shoots at Han, and Han shoots Greedo.

Han's bolt explodes out Greedo's back making a hole at least the size of a fist.

Greedo's bolt misses, and causes little damage.

Han's blaster easily penetrates what appears to be stucco, and the novelization says is packed dirt. The stormtroopers seem to feel the effects of the bolts hitting the walls around them.

A stormtrooper firing at Han causes minor damage to the M.Falcon.

Stormtroopers fire at the M.Falcon as it leaves Tatooine. You can see silvery white sparks when the bolts hit. Those white sparks are similar to what you see when you cut metal with a plasma cutter, or when you burn thermite.

R2-D2 and C3-P0 are in the control room on the Deathstar. C3-P0 asks what to do if they are found, and Han answers to not open the door, and hope they don't have blasters.

HAN: And hope they don't have blasters.

In order to get into the detention block the stormtroopers fire once on a closed door. The door shatters, and the stormtroopers can easily walk through the hole.

The door seems to be at least 3 or 4 inches thick, and is made of a black material.

There is no sign of the door being hot. It is like the door was hit with a hammer if you ignore the smoke.

The Princess takes Luke's blaster, fiddles with some controls on the side of the blaster, and then blasts a grate leading to a garbage shoot. Before handing the blaster back to Luke she seems to fiddle with the controls again.

The grate showed no sign of being heated much like the door, and seemed to be made of similar black material.

Ok, a couple of things:
-Greedo's back shows us an open wound the size of a fist, but we see no hole...
-The cell block door could have been blown open with a plastic charge, we have no way of knowing...

The blast had to travel through Greedo to make the hole in his back. I blame the method used to make the effect

We hear a blaster fire when the door explodes, Han implied such a thing was possible when he told C3-P0 to hope they didn't have blaster if they he and R2-D2 were found, and we see a similar effect when the lovely princess blasts the grate to the garbage shoot.

I don't think Greedo was really blasted through, unlike the Alien which Beverly blasted in TNG, where we saw the hole, or the Augment that Archer shot using the MACO rifle...
In both these cases, we saw the hole...
What we saw in Greedo's back was a burn mark, not a hole...

I don't recall if we hear blasters or an explosion...
And in the second example, Han saying "hope they don't have blasters" doesn't necessarily imply they could use them to blast through the door...
He could very well tell 3PO to hope they don't have Blasters to shoot them with...
In fact, the cell block door incident is akin to the door incident on the Tantive IV...
And the grate is most likely not as resistant as a security door leading to prisoner cells...

This certain looks like Han is saying that the blasters would be used to blast open the door if C3-P0 and R2-D2 locked it.

With regards to the shooting through Greedo, the bolt may not be traveling through him. We only know that some energy continued through his body and came out the other side, which left a burn mark but no hole. You see similar effects with Jafa staff-weapons throughout SG-1.

As for the second part, Lucky, I think this is open to interpretation, and I don't think we'll reach a consensus, so I will not argue on this point any further...
