UFP, GE, IOM, and Tau vs. Imperium (Dune)

Post by Khas » Fri May 07, 2010 5:33 pm

The battle is just what it says. The United Federation of Planets, the Galactic Empire, the Imperium of Man, and the Tau Empire have entered an unholy alliance to take down the Old Imperium from the Dune universe. Can they pull it off? We'll assume all sides ships have MT-level starship weapons, but superweapons are allowed by both.

Um, at what point in it's history is the the Old Imperium when all this is set to go down? Pre-Dune and the death of Duke Leto on Arrakis, post-Dune, set in the interm after the fall of the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV and the rule of Paul? Or during or after the rule of the God Emperor Leto II?

Why is this important? Like with all the powers allied against it, the Old Empire is weaker and stronger at various points in it's history and can effect how well it holds out against this rather enourmous onslaught, which will overrun the Imperium to be sure, but how swiftly that goes will depend on when and how strong the Old Imperium is at the time.

We'll go with during Leto II's reign.
UFP as of 2387.
GE as of 0 ABY.
IOM and Tau in their current states.

Sorry, I'm just forgetful about these settings today.

In that case there's not much to talk about as that is one of the weakest points in time for the Imperium. Arrakis is terraformed, so there's not much in the way of Melange, except for Leto's personal stores and what he produces. Various groups like the Spacing Guild and the Bene Gesserit have been significantly weakened compared to their pre-God Emperor days, and there are no longer super-soldiers such as the Sardaukar or Fremen, and the God Emperor's Fish Speakers are not a large enough force to combat the combined forces arrayed against them. Also many of the Great and Lesser Houses of the landsraad are severely weaked as well by Leto II's decrees. About the only way you could have picked a worse time would be post-God Emperor and the return from the Scattering of the various group that are being chased back by the Thinking Machines led by Omnius. So basically the the Old Imperium is totally and completely steam rollered over with only maybe some tough resistance around Rakis and the God Emperor and his forces.

My younger brother read the Dune novels, and he said that the Imperium at any point would be big enough to take on nearly anyone.

As for "another", he also repetitively wanked up Rand al'Thor to the point that he sorta brainwashed me into thinking Rand vs. Q would be quasi-fair, which was why I posted that fight back in January. I mean, when someone tells you for over a year how powerful someone is, that kinda sinks in.

Against any one individual power, the Old Imperium of the Duneverse can probably hold it's own a while, if not indefinitely. But against that many allied powers? No.
